Supreme Court came to the protection of hapless poor patients of Delhi as the fanatic Private Doctors too were telling that they too will join the strike.Now I have question. Can any one answer this
This is a matter that is not specific to medicos alone. It is a common law (or regulation) for all Courses, all colleges, all institutions, all jobs, all......
What did the Medicos achieve by going on strike affecting the poor patients.
Why did not the Forward Caste employees of other department come on a strike......
The only plausible answer is that, the rich and powerful Forward Caste in dependant on other services, where as it is the backward community and SC who are dependant on Govt Hospitals... For example...They need postal service to post letter, telephone services to send (HATE) SMS, Media to cover the (partisan) demands, bank to save what they earn by supressing others, but if they fall ill, they have the private hospitals, where as only the poor and downtrodden backward caste and SC are dependant on Govt Hospitals
They choose their strike in such a way that does not affect the forward caste, but only affects the BC and SC..... How racist !!!!!

It is hard for others like the people concerned with the services you mentioned to realise that as they have not undergone that phase in their lives. So don't make biased claims that things were deliberately planned to affect the lower caste. How do you know what caste did the patients belong to? They might also have belonged to your so called 'forward caste'.

Does the entire country belong to only two categories: Brahmins and Backward 'castes'. All non-brahmins belong to backward castes? I disagree. I myself belong to a non-brahmin caste and I am not backward. So stop this brahmin bashing.

Is it necessary that "all" the so called backward castes remain backward even after 50 years of reservations. In that case do you still claim that the reservations have worked?

Everyone who depended on that hospital was affected. The medical students had no option but to go on strike because the government was giving a deaf ear to them. If the government really had a justification for this reservation. What was holding them back?
Maybe the protestors were right. Its all a votebank politics. An effort to please the OBCs.
No one stops you from putting your points in favour of reservations. They may be correct. Reservations may be the correct thing. But what is needed is a review of how much it has helped. And what is the future. Whether the current way of implementing is proper or not. How much is the effeciency. Why go about extending duration of SC/ST reservations every 10 years. Why not agree that it will take atleast 100 years.
If the current implementation itself if flawed. How to go about correctly implementing it.
If they claim that it has worked. Wonderful! Lets plan for a phased removal of reservations now.

You will have to first come out of the notion or your belief that all forward caste people are rich and the "socially backward people" are the poorest in our country. I could provide with many statistics that there are many castes that are poorer than the so called socially backward OBC's. Why is that you have hatred against Brahmins. You are in the 21st century now and still have the mindset of a person living in 18th century back. You are calling yourself (or the community) as backward and untouchables etc. You people are discriminating yourself and instead of fighting for the right cause are choosing shortcuts (wanting for shortcuts infact) to come up the success ladder. I request you to change your mindset and think coolly about the problem and the resolution not hurting anyone. This would apply to everyone irrespective of the caste

in any case institutions like AIIMS are considered some of the best in the country, and people go there for quality healthcare irrespective of being rich or poor...

in case you were wondering i am not a BRAHMIN .......i am an OBC and am likely to directly benefit if this reservation goes through (i am also a student)........ but i still oppose reservations because it is plainly discriminatory....... agreed that we were discriminated against for hundreds of years by the upper castes...... but this does not mean we start discriminating against them now..... is this what we want for india's future...... when will indians get rid discrimination forever and be truly EQUAL.......

I think most of my thoughts after reading your astounding post have been reverberated in the previous post. I will not argue whether you are correct or wrong. But can you explain the folllowing facts:
I am a student at IIT Kharagpur
1. The cutoff for Prep courses at IITKGP in our year was 20(this is the lowest I have heard). The lowest I have heard for a genral student is 60!!!. Do u still not feel that there is discrimination?
2. Around 30% of the reservation seats remain vacant evry year??????
3. Among the reservation students, only a few do well. Those who do well could have gone through JEE w/o the quota. The others barring a few exceptions drag their feet somehow. This is a fact.
4. Contrary to your claim, the quota students are mostly the richest in the campus-they own bikes and stuff!!
5. I am sorry to say(Plz Pardon me for saying this), but most quota profs are pathetic!!!! Again I dont discriminate, there are quite a few non-quota pathetic profs too-thts a different story....let me not go into the politics.
U know what is saddest about this reservation thing, most of never thought what religion or caste a student belongs to. But now we are now and then reminded, I have seen how brilliant students miss out in teh examination bcz of nervousness etc..then when I se that those places have been taken by spoilt brats from rich families sporting a quota tag, it really enrages..
I dont knwo how much u know but most of teh downtroddedn, irrespective of their caste and creed do not know anything abt this reservation. I had tried one whole year to give free education to some Santhal students around 8 Km from our campus. You knw what, they know nothing about the reservation..
Have you seen Nehru' letter to ministers in 1961? He disliked reservation. I agree with you that to uplift ppl they have to be given some sops..Give them teh sops but only one in a lineage..thats not what it happens..The people who use reservation are the ones who luckily came to know about it and used it. The poor and downtrodden are mostly at teh lower strata of teh society and tehy will remain liek that for ever as this reservation serves no one. You are calling for non-quota ppl to sacrifice seats for upliftment of SC/ST/OBC. .. I think the author of the above write-up is ill-informed about the cross section of the patients reaching the hospitals of the 'quality' of AIIMS. Infact it is the forward caste people who form the majority of out and in patients. (iam in one of them). For various reasons- to reach such hospitals located faraway needs money and guidance. that is possible only for forward class people, who have some money either inherited or earned, to reach there. The under-previliged never reach there.
This write-up does not represent the truth, which may suit colleges in the south india, where the under-previlieged get treatment atleast in govt. hospitals, whereas in the north (up and bihar), they are still far behind.
