But my dear friend, please please please notice that this is the biggest evil caste-based reservations - and politicians - are creating. Like you want your brethren's problems to be understood compassionately, please try and be compassionate about the problems of your 'other' brethrens - the so called upper castes. They have anxieties, constraints and aspirations - exactly like you and me - and its irrespective of reservations. These things are mere reactions of frustrations. If we go on the caste-based reservations route, it is quite possible that your brethren might get unfair advantage, and by majority, surpass your 'other' brethrens - maybe even succeed in oppressing them. but would your brethren still become equals? would they still command genuine respect? would we have created the nation which your ingenuous brethren - the great Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar - envisaged while making the basis of this nation - its constitution? Do we want to create the kind of nation we will create going by this route?
*Distant* ancestors of your other brethrens did one mistake - you are upto repeating it. The only problem is, even our generation seems upto creating a nation which neither your brethren, nor your 'other' brethren, truely want.

and btw, yes, government should indeed initiate actions against the erring guys. As we request the government to take action, we also have to request them to educate the erring folks on the problem the government is trying to solve by its policies, so that they become a part of solving the problems. But do you think the government would educate? I think not, for a simple reason - that is not why government makes such policies anyways.
and btw, such things do crop up once in a while in these kinds of institutions - again, the reason is exactly the same as i pointed out - its a policy which is flawed to the core, and will only increase the divide. But at IIT, this is by far not the case. IIT professors are poles apart compared to other institutes.
Infact, one of the professors (who is not "lower caste" *huh, so much hate saying that*) at one of the IITs was in the camp of pro-reservation guys. Over a period of time, everyone convinced the pro-reservation folks, compassionately and with logic, and there is only one camp at this IIT now - the anti-reservation camp - and all of the guys sit together in this only one camp!!!
Atleast dont insult IIT professors - they are just too good. Remember they are the best in the country, and we all need them badly.

it has been awhile since i visited your blog, and i might say you have somewhat lost it here. Unlike your two earlier ones , in which you exposed the (Coimbatore) Isha foundation, and later on ripped the lid off the Lok Paritran fiasco; this particular blog doesnt seem to be going anywhere. let me explain.
History has ample proof of debates being conducted by the most highly reputed, respected and knowledgeable of scholars, but,...BUT, all , or most of them remained just debates. The practical outcome was visibly and totaly absent.
I can see a similar patern forming here also, vis-a-vis, this reservation/anti-reservation imbroligo.
What is needed at this hour, especially in India, are not push-pull debates or discussions, but actual action.
And for that ot happen, all of us, the whole country must first of all AGREE THAT WE DO HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE, which urgently needs resolving.
Once that is done, then the road will be easy. We can now collectively put all our brains and resources together, and I do believe that we will clear this hurdle with complete success; that too in the shortest period (without harming anyone's sentiments in the process)
Chella, What i AM sugesting is, why not use your wonderful blog, and call all of the enlightened youth who are wasing their time and talent, in trading useless, irrelevant, and vitriolic anger.....to send in their concrete suggestions, on how exactly to solve this burgeoning issue, which is affecting not only them, but the whole nation.
I am pretty damn sure, that even if a small percent accepts your invitation(c'mon buddy, we are a nation of a billion, aren't we?!!!), i am possitive we will come to a conclusion that all the politicos and beurocrats wouldn't dream up in a 100 lifetimes.

The one who is claiming "the society by giving the reservation will divide in castes” are the people who had divided and dividing the society in caste from Manu smriti and want their dominance by any means.
The higher class society has divided the society in castes such a way that "when a SC/ST or OBc candidate get selected in general criteria without getting any reservation" they don't reveal their identities of caste to be safe from mistreating by high caste candidates. This is even prevalent in IITs.
Note: An OBc Student from IITK who is always been selected in general category without any reservation and do not need any reservation for him in future too.

But what abt the real dalits and OBCs in India? those who live in the villages, do you think they can ever get into the IIT's and the IIM's without any exposure to the amenities the middle class dalits and OBC's in the cities have access to? All the seats are been gobbled up by students who have lived discrimination free and easy lives and the person actually getting discriminated is ignored! why???? coz their needs are more basic and they dont vote on the basis of whether they are given seats in the IIMS's.

In your previous posts, you said that TN has 69% reservations. Don't you think that the so-called FC(to me therez no such thing as caste) could have actually driven students to actually discriminate? Also, by increasing reservations for the so-called BCs, do you think that the probem would be solved?? On the contrary, I think it would only increase. According to me the current crop of youth have very little feeling of caste left in them, which could be one of the reasons why politicians are trying to bring it to the forefront so that they could get back to playing their caste-based politics... I do not even know half of my best frends caste... it doesn't matter to me... and to a majority of the youth in the country it no longer matters... when someone says 'anti-reservation' it shouldn't be read as 'anti-Backward class' or 'anti-poor'... which is precisely what is happening in your case. My guess is that you have been subjected to racism... and this has probably removed your reasoning powers... you are blinded by your hatred towards Brahmins(who r they once again??)
